Ultra-Trail® du Haut-Giffre (UTHG)

With the UTHG, you step into the big leagues. Starting will be easy, but finishing, after more than 90 kilometers and nearly 6000m of elevation gain, will earn you a spot in an exclusive club for the most seasoned runners! The technical skills and endurance required to earn this privilege will match the challenge of a course featuring several sections above 2,000 meters in altitude.

As for the course, if the one offered for the TMBD leaves you a bit unsatisfied, add an extra detour through waterfalls and peaks!

Starting from the Sixt base camp, instead of heading straight to the Chalets de Porte, take on a very long ascent towards Lignon, passing by the Cascade du Rouget and then along the beautiful Vallon de Sales.

Leaving this valley, a paradise for ibex, you’ll head toward your final pass, Col Pelouse, from where you’ll descend toward Lake and Refuge de Gers, a welcome stop in the long descent that will take you back to Samoëns and the legendary tour of the Lac aux Dames.

This course includes sloped sections, gradients exceeding 35°, potentially snow-covered areas at this time of year, or very slippery depending on weather conditions, limestone pavement zones, and a passage at 2400m altitude. It is essential to ensure that your experience and physical and mental condition on race day are aligned with the demands of this environment.
