La Montée de Gers (MDG)

A race packed full of Alpine scenery with only 18kms? That’s possible with our new race – The Gers Climb !

From spruce-filled forests to Alpine pastures, admire mountain streams and waterfalls and take your time to take in the splendid Gers valley whose snow-covered peaks serve as the backdrop to its eponymous lake, and upon which some of you may be lucky enough to spot some chamois. But this valley will not easily be conquered as it’s at the end of nearly 900m of almost straight climbing that you’ll finally reach it. Following on from this, the path leads down to Samoëns, more rolling than before but still punctuated with the odd ‘kick up the bum’ on the hillside. Bordering the Giffre valley, you will be rewarded with regular views of the southern slopes and peaks.

Then, moving onto the final, but technical descent, you’ll start to gradually hear the atmosphere of the finish line... the finish line that you’ll be crossing like everyone else after doing a lap of the lake!
