Ultra-Trail® du Haut-Giffre — 2021-04-23T11:27:34Z

It is with a heavy heart, and a little ahead of the deadline that we had given ourselves, that we've had to acknowledge that the 2021 edition of the Ultra-Trail® du Haut-Giffre cannot take place in June. Although we wanted to give this date every possible chance, none of the factors that we previously mentioned have improved, some have got worse, and others still have been added...
But we're not letting ourselves be discouraged by this, and instead we're announcing three pieces of good news !!!
Good news n°1: an edition of the UTHG will still take place this year, from 16 to 19 September 2021 (this is reliant on a more favourable health situation, but there are good reasons to believe this will be the case by then!)
Good news n°2 : participants who have already registered will have a choice:
to postpone to September
or to 2022 ( from 16 to 19 june 2022)
or to receive a refund (details and procedure to come, please DO NOT SEND messages on this subject for the moment)

Good news n°3 : the Criou KMV is still on as planned on August 15th! This is an opportunity to measure yourself against the steepest KMV in the world, and to come and check out the area in preparation for September.

This is one of the most beautiful races in France: in the heart of the Haut-Giffre mountains in Haute-Savoie. ON 17th, 18th, 19Th and 20th June 2021 Samoëns and Sixt-Fer à Cheval will welcome 4,200 runners from 35 countries. From the 10KM to the Ultra Trail, no fewer than 7 races are proposed.

We are deeply saddened by this, because we wanted to believe it might still be possible with some extra time and we were galvanized by your many messages of support and encouragement ... but, alas, the way the health situation in France is evolving gives us no choice.
Faced with the uncertainty as to when we might see a return to normality and the great number of events looming in the autumn, we can confirm that we are opting for a pure and simple cancellation of the 2020 edition, rather than a postponement to the end of the year.
The KMV du Criou, scheduled for 16th August 2020 is, for the moment, being maintained as plannced.

Dear Runner Friends,
For almost 3 weeks now, our country has been dealing with the Covid19 epidemic, which has already claimed far too many lives. Obviously, our first thoughts are with those lost, their loved ones and all those who—at all levels—are working to limit the impact of this epidemic on our daily lives.
As well as these tragic consequences, this epidemic and the social isolation measures that have been put in place in response to it are having major impacts on sport: many competitions, both minor and major, have been postponed or cancelled, and many training plans have been greatly disrupted.
In this context, many of you are asking us, quite legitimately, about our plans for the Ultra-Trail du Haut-Giffre...

Like every year, the Ultra-Trail® du Haut-Giffre owes its reputation and success to its impressive team of volunteers. There were 200 of you in 2019, and despite the atrocious weather, our race remained popular with the runners. And that's all thanks to you!!!

This year, our family must grow to meet the expectations of the ever-increasing number of runners.

You, your parents, children, grandparents, friends, uncles and aunts – in short – we need you all!

From a couple of hours to several days (for the most seasoned volunteers); in the mountains, at the basecamp, at the aid stations, with the transport teams…whatever you can manage, we'll find a post to suit you.
